Safety first
- Ask an engineer about the roof’s load capacity.
- Make sure the edge has a railing; keep children supervised.
- Never block drains.
Containers and soil
Drums, buckets, sacks or pots — always with drain holes. A rough mix: about half loamy soil, a third compost or aged manure, the rest sand or coco peat.
Beware mosquitoes
Don’t let water stand in trays or discarded containers — it breeds Aedes mosquitoes.
