The monsoon has plenty of water — the shortage comes in the dry season. Catching roof water closes much of that gap.
Set-up
- Pipe roof gutters into large drums or a tank.
- Discard the first rain — it carries dust and dirt.
- Cover with mesh or a lid to stop mosquitoes.
- Place tanks on a firm base; full tanks are very heavy.
